Painting (incl. #gouache #acrylic) On July 18th, 1863, the 54th Massachusetts reg.,composed of African American soldiers, led the assault on Ft. Wagner, S.C. Through a hail of bullets and shot, the 54th scaled the fort. The battle was lost, but the 54th defined courage and honor.
