‘For 13 years, Najah Mardini, the mother of detained Syrian dentist and former national chess champion Rania al-Abbasi, clung to the hope that she would one day hold her six grandchildren again. (Morgan Laffer)’

“For those who wait, and for those who are gone

The National Board of Missing Persons, after lengthy investigations, and a humane protocol that considers the family’s right to knowledge, announced the death of Dr. Rania Al-Abbasi’s six children.

They were killed in Al-Assad prisons in cold blood, an entire family was destroyed, and flower-aged children were kidnapped by the butcher of solidarity Amjad Youssef.

We at the Syrian Emergency Organization extend our condolences to the family of Dr. Rania Al-Abbasi, to the family of her husband Abdul Rahman Yassin, to their grandfather and grandmother, to their uncles, aunts, brothers and to every Syrian who cried over children he did not know, but he followed their heartbreaking story, and recognized their innocent faces through the cries of their uncle Hassan, his sister Nayela Al-Abbasy, and their aunt Ahlam Yassin.

We promise that we will keep raising our voices high, that the names of these little ones will not be erased from memory, that their wound will remain open until we win it, and bring all the culprits to justice.

This crime will not go down fast.

Less than two years ago, the world justice was still silent, and the criminals who committed the most gruesome massacres were drinking their coffee on the corpse of the country. But today, with the fall of the regime on the 1st of January 2024 and with the extraordinary efforts of the Syrian government and legal organizations and at its forefront the Syrian Emergency Organization that has documented crimes, convicted criminals, and is still pursuing them in all corners of the earth, justice has begun to take its first steps on a long and long path.

JUSTICE WILL NOT PREVAIL UNLESS WE PREVAIL OVER EVIL.
